GET IN FRONT OF MILLIONS OF STATIONERY ADDICTS! THIS MUCH-LOVED annual event, which runs from 24-30 April and includes World Stationery Day on 26 April, aims to celebrate writing by hand. It encourages people all over the world to talk about and share their favourite stationery with other fans, and to send more letters and cards. National Stationery Week captures the imaginations of consumers through retailers, dealers, suppliers, schools, offices and the media in an unprecedented way. The National Stationery Week team is working on a number of initiatives to provide opportunities for boosting sales and growing brand awareness, including a Best Stationery Display competition. This will see one lucky retailer (and three runners-up) win hundreds of pounds’ worth of stock from NSW sponsors, for the most creative display using official POS material. When Calliope Gifts in Dorking created a special window display using POS materials from the NSW team, it saw a sales increase of 111 per cent during National Stationery Week 2016. There’s still time to join in and benefit from its profile-raising platform for Now in its sixth year, National Stationery Week is your chance to boost sales by sharing the message, and the hashtag, that #writingmatters DON’T EMAIL IT, WRITE IT! Official Sponsors, Partners and Official Retailers. Tim Willoughby, COO of Ocean Media Group, which organises the initiative, says: “This is an exciting opportunity for brands to capture the imagination of consumers and retailers, and now is the perfect time to get involved. The campaign is multi- faceted and marks an ideal opportunity to present to B2C and B2B audiences, whilst getting involved in some exciting, fun and varied events. Support your industry and help it flourish in 2017.” The NSW team commissioned a YouGov study which showed 92 per cent of adults think that writing by hand is important, and 97 per cent think it is important for children to be taught to write by hand. It’s clearly more relevant than ever to promote this message. This was evident in last year’s successful campaign, which saw National Stationery Week achieve coverage reaching 65 million people across 180 titles. Its social media campaign reached more than 45 million, with mentions from top retailers Paperchase and stationery addict Sarah Millican. Waterstones’ managing director James Daunt, TV presenter Lorraine Kelly and BBC Radio 2 star Jeremy Vine all sparked important debates about the future of handwriting in schools, giving national recognition to the campaign. Nicola Shepherd, trade marketing director for Sheaffer, which has sponsored the campaign every year since the first NSW in 2011, said: “We never hesitate to sponsor National Stationery Week and we continually see a huge return on our investment. The campaign continues to yield results and grow year-on-year. We’re proud to have been involved since the beginning.” With a social media community of 20,000 stationery fans, what are you waiting for? Get your brand front and centre now!
